  1. When the fire is out and completely cold, use a coal hook or peel to drag out any charcoal or ashes. You could put it on a compost heap, if you have one.
  2. Use a metal brush to rub any ingredients off the base of the oven if they have fallen on it during cooking, making sure the oven is clean for its next use.

Once you master the art of starting, building and managing the fire to high enough temperatures, you will be able to successfully cook a huge range of dishes.
