We get even more press. After the food blogs, the New York Times comes. Every time an article is published, I translate it for my dad. Finally, a giant camera crew shows up. A tall white dude is the star of the show. My dad snaps a picture (with flash, pissing off the producer), sends it to me, and I show it to my friends. My roommate’s girlfriend immediately freaks out. It’s Anthony Bourdain, and apparently he’s kind of a big deal.

Things move quickly from there. We tape up photos of Bourdain around the stall, and I add a section about him to our website. Our lines get longer and more diverse. We aren’t just catering to Flushing locals anymore, or even just the Chinese community; we’re representing our food to people everywhere.
