It has taken about an hour to chug out into the middle of the Prince William Sound. We have been entertained by frolicking porpoises zig-zagging in front of the boat, seen bald eagles perched on rocks and otters lying on their backs enjoying a light lunch. Although this is June, and the surrounding mountains are still capped with snow, the sea is a flat calm. It is hard to believe that this remote and majestic spot was the scene of the disaster that was the grounding of the Exxon Valdez. You would think that this place had had its share of catastrophe without my being in receipt of a temporary fishing licence.
