Paris was made for picnicking — those jardins, those views, and more to the point: those baguettes. For a rustic repast, throw down a rug and spread out your wares.

My picnic-basket checklist goes something like this:
Chablis (chilled, and in a proper wine glass)
A morsel of something meaty, or perhaps the very special ‘Conserve de Thon’ A cheese or two. Or more. One has to be ‘Danyel’s Filled Camembert’
Fresh crusty baguette Salty butter (the best you can lay your hands on)
Fresh fruit, in season (some crispness, some squishiness)
