Frank: It’s funny that Amy and I decided that I would write the introduction to this chapter, because I’m actually the historian of the two of us and she’s the one who dreams about the future. Although we opened in 1992, I didn’t begin to consider the future of the Bakehouse until 2000. Prior to this I was fully focused on the present, fearful of failure. After eight years of dedicated attention to the daily details, I felt as if the Bakehouse was established and stable, and I could begin to dream. The future finally felt hopeful, full of positive choices, exciting even.
