  • About
Cofaco was born of the 1961 fusion of two of the biggest and most prestigious canned food companies in the Algarve, Centeno Cumbrera & Ca. and Raul Folque & Filhos. The following year, spurred by the scarcity of tuna in the seas off the Algarve, the company moved its activity to the Azores, islands blessed for their prime location on the tuna’s migratory ocean route.

The proximity to the fishing ports of the company’s factories in Madalena (Pico) and Rabo de Peixe (São Miguel) means that fish are prepared at their freshest. This gives Cofaco products their unique characteristics and globally recognised quality.
