Comur – Fábrica de Conservas Murtosa, Lda. was founded in 1942 in Murtosa, near the city of Aveiro, to produce eels in pickled sauce, a typical product of the region that became the brand’s calling card.
A company fully focused from its beginnings on exports, thanks to its eels in pickled sauce Comur was also able to develop an important market within Portugal. Alongside this product (the sauce of which acts as a natural con-servant), Comur produces a range of other canned fish and shellfish using an artisanal system of production among which the smoked products boast a distinctive, important role.
