Two chefs sum up the modern chef movement: Clare Smyth and Spencer Metzger. You’ve probably heard of one but not the other. Clare Smyth has reached the top of the profession and, likely as not, will dominate it for years to come. She’s an outstanding chef who has a pristine image that is not like anything the profession has seen before.
Her restaurant, Core by Clare Smyth in London’s Notting Hill, has won everything there is to win: 3 Michelin stars, 10/10 in the Good Food Guide and 5 AA rosettes. Clare herself has been voted World’s Best Female Chef at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards and her rise to the top of the profession has been accelerated by the opening of her first international restaurant in Sydney, Australia in 2021 at The Crown Hotel overlooking the harbour. It’s safe to say she’s riding high.
