  • About
In most of Latin America, the market is the center of life, whether it’s in a tiny village that hosts a traveling market once a week or a huge city with several permanent structures set in different neighborhoods. The village markets are usually open-air affairs, with vendors traveling from farms in the surrounding area to sell produce and livestock, and from nearby cities to sell clothing, tools, and other packaged goods. These vendors travel almost every day of the week, moving from village to village–Atitlán on Tuesdays, Monte Albán on Wednesdays, every week, often for their whole lives.
