Proportions = 1 cup long-grain rice + 2 cups water + 1 level teaspoon salt.
Oven Method
Put rice and salt into an ovenproof casserole, add boiling water and stir (using the same proportions as above). Cover with lid and cook in a moderate oven 350°F. (Gas Mark, 4) for about 40 minutes. Test rice, and if not quite tender, or water not absorbed completely, cover and cook for another few minutes. Fluff rice lightly with fork and serve.
