When Raw Meat or fresh poultry is purchased and is to be used within a few hours, it may generally be left in the original wrapping from the butcher or poultryman. Or, if desired, it may be unwrapped, placed in a suitable dish and covered loosely with waxed paper. In any event, the meat or poultry should be stored in the coldest part of the refrigerator.
If the meat or poultry is sealed in clear plastic, the plastic wrapping should be removed. The meat or poultry should then be covered loosely with waxed paper and stored in the coldest part of the refrigerator.
