Whoever thought up the idea that salad bowls should not be washed should be tossed summarily into a pot of rancid oil. Unwashed salad bowls quickly become stale no matter how they are otherwise cleaned. If a salad bowl cannot withstand cleaning with a detergent and lukewarm water, best turn it in for a new salad bowl.
