If, by chance, you have both hard-cooked eggs and raw eggs in the shell in the refrigerator, there is a simple method for telling which is which. Gently set an egg down on a large flat surface and carefully spin it around. If it spins around neatly more or less in one spot, it is a raw egg. If it spins around in a wayward, haphazard style, it is a hard-cooked egg.
