  • About

I grew up in Flanders (formerly called Brabant), the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. Despite the common language, Dutch and Flemish people tend to use different words for things and have different meanings for words, too, which can lead to confusion and hilarity. We also have different accents. This means that while we share the same language we have two natiolects: Netherlandic Dutch and Flemish Dutch.

The Germanic Frankish language is the origin of the Dutch language, but it was also the origin of French, which is Romanic with a lot of Germanic influences.
