  • About
  • Sliced or grated vegetables or cheese: 7 cups.
  • Chopped fruits, vegetables or nuts: 1½ cups.
  • Chopped meat, poultry or fish: 1 lb/500 g (2 cups).
  • Thin mixtures: 1½ cups (e.g., 1 milkshake).
  • Thick mixtures: 3 cups. (For thick soups, strain vegetables from liquid and purée the solids in batches.)
  • White bread dough: 1 loaf (3 to 3¼ cups of flour).
  • Whole wheat bread dough:1 loaf (2½ to 3 cups of flour).
  • Pastry: one 2-crust pie (2 cups of flour).
  • Cakes: Recipes generally not exceeding 2 to 2½ cups flour or 1 box (18.5 oz) cake mix. See Cakes and Frostings for more information.
  • Cookie dough: 4 to 5 dozen (based on an average chocolate chip cookie recipe).
