  • About
Iblis, the devil, presents himself to King Zahhak disguised as a charming young gourmet cook. The king gives him the key to the kitchen (khoresh khaneh). Up to that time people had been vegetarians and killing for food was unknown. The cook prepares a series of dishes (khoreshes) to ensnare the royal epicure. The feasts begin simply but increase in delicacy day by day.
The first night he cooks egg-yolk dishes to give the king vigorous health in a short time. The king thanks the cook for the delicacy of this food.
