Chileans are proud of the food they produce and the dishes they create with it, and no weekend is complete without the family coming together to enjoy an asado, or barbecue. With Catholicism the dominant religion, there is no shortage of saints’ days and religious holidays to mark, although there is also a strong tradition of celebrating pre-Christian and indigenous festivals.
