Spain at its greenest and wettest; land of the Celts and the setting sun. For centuries Galicia was considered the end of the earth, Europe’s most westerly tip where the Atlantic horizon just dropped off into space. The countryside is littered with dolmen, the traditional instrument is the gaita or bagpipe, and the local language Gallego owes more to neighbouring Portugal than it does to Castille. This is about as far from the Spanish stereotype of Flamenco and sangría that one could possibly stray.
