our 3-month journey
  1. BARCELONA, SPAIN: 1 month. Side/day trips to Girona, Sitges, Besalu, Costa Brava.
  2. ANTIBES, FRANCE: 1 week. We flew from Barcelona to Nice. Day trips to Nice, Cannes, Éze, and Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
  3. LIGURIA, ITALY: 1 week. We took a stunning train ride along the coast from Nice to Genoa. We got pesto pasta immediately upon arrival, followed by focaccia and gelato. In nearby Cinque Terre, we stayed in Monterosso al Mare and hiked between these idyllic seaside towns.
  4. SICILY, ITALY: 1 week. We flew from Genoa into Catania and out of Palermo and explored in between by car.
  5. LISBON, PORTUGAL: 2 weeks. We stayed first in the downtown area and then in Belém.
  6. THE ALGARVE REGION, POTUGAL: We intended to stay for 1 week but liked it so much we stayed for 2. We drove from Lisbon and stayed in Lagos and Praia da Luz and explored many towns nearby including Travira, Salema, and Sagres.
  7. MADRID, SPAIN: 1 week. We flew from Lisbon to Madrid and spent our last days back in Spain eating tapas before flying back to San Francisco.
