When you change countries and languages it is not always easy, especially when writing in a different language. It can be confusing but, after a while, you get used to the spellings and words. “Pantry” is an English word that I have grown to love. The pantry is a sort of mystery place where you keep your secrets, next to your kitchen. This is exactly what happened at home: somewhere for all those lovely jams, marmalades, conserves, pickles, and all the dry herbs, fruit and spices. The pantry was often a spare room, cool and dark, or a big cabinet, never too far away from the kitchen, always easily accessible.
