The Gom Cheese Brr-Grr

  • About
There is a 120-year-old ice cream parlor in the center of downtown Columbus, Indiana, called Zaharakos, which serves a sticky, burger-like concoction with a very rich history. That burger is called the Gom Cheese Brr-Grr.

The Gom is technically in the cheeseburger family, but it’s not really a cheeseburger. It’s a sandwich with hamburger qualities (much like the Loose Meat Sandwich of Iowa, or the chopped cheese of East Harlem, New York). What disqualifies the Gom is that there’s no formed beef patty. This is a loose, tasty, hot mess, and you are going to love it.
