I’d like to take just a moment to acknowledge an obvious but easily overlooked fact. Every single ingredient highlighted in this book is a seed.
It is natural to forget the inherent magic each one, so small and unassuming, contains. A seed has, within itself, everything the plant needs to grow again. From a dried, hard kernel, life springs forth. A tiny grain, protected by rigid bran, tumbles along until softened by warmth and water, and then, needing nothing else at all, regrows to try again—tender and green, craning toward the sun.
