Felt replacement

Not all brands come with a special high-heat gasket, but even when they do, the material has a limited lifespan. A traditional felt gasket lasts for about a year (shorter if you make a lot of high-heat pizzas). In our catering business, a high-heat felt gasket will last about three years. Several kamado brands sell high-heat gaskets, but you can also buy Nomex “high-heat gasket” felt. Nomex is a fabric used for making fireproof clothing for race car drivers and firemen. Look for a version with an adhesive strip, because the necessary heat-resistant contact glue (3M77 Super) can be pretty expensive and is not available worldwide.
