At the end of June, the town of Avise dedicates itself entirely to a festival known as La Fiocca, entirely devoted to whipped cream - ideal for those with a sweet tooth. After this, in the second week of July, at Saint-Rhemy-en-Bosses, there is an annual festival in celebration of the local ham, the Jambon de Bosses. The French names of the ham and the town give an indication of how close this region is to the French/Swiss border.
Piedmont and in particular affluent Milan is home to some truly wonderful chocolate stores, from which a dazzling array of sweet confections can be bought.
