  • About
One of the best ways to get to know a country is through its festivals. While this often means braving crowds of boisterous people, especially in the south, it also means enjoying the food and drink of the region at its flamboyant best. In southern Italy it seems as if there is always some town or village in the region that is in party mode, with saint’s days, celebrations of particular seasonal foods or dishes, sporting events and much more.

One of the many events in Sicily is the Flower Festival of Caltagirone, which sees the famous Staircase of Santa Maria del Monte, which is decorated with thousands of beautiful tiles, also adorned with blooms as a tribute to the city’s patron, Our Lady of Conadomini.
