Eggs are an excellent source of protein and vitamins—the average egg contains six grams of protein, about 15 percent of an adult’s daily requirement, along with significant amounts of iron and vitamins A, D, E and K. Eggs are low in calories, with an average of 80 calories per egg, but their high cholesterol content means that eggs are restricted in some diets for health reasons.
