“We are proud to remain a family business with long-serving, committed staff. As for me, I am just incredibly lucky to spend every day doing something I truly love.”
I have always been happy on the farm and I could pluck a turkey at five years of age. I am sure I did want Santa to call at Christmas, but the best bit was helping out with the turkey production.
My father Les and uncle Pete first produced turkeys in the 1950s as they saw a niche market, and the village of Wythall in Worcestershire is very near the county border with the City of Birmingham. They had many years of success but the rise of the supermarkets and their impending retirement meant the business was wound down.
