The Peck family business began in 1950 on Scotland Farm and has existed amidst expansions and diversification on that site ever since. I branched out by establishing P.X. Farms in 2003 because I wanted to push forward in the industry. The increasing costs and changing models – where families are no longer expected to take up the mantle – have made farming substantially more difficult since those earlier times, so we’ve gone down the route of scaling up and using innovative methods to reduce environmental impact and improve yields.
