  • About

By Gemma Tidmarsh

“The methods we employ in the present day have barely altered in nearly 300 years. The Haward family have been farming oysters for all that time with patience and care at the heart of their business.”

Richard Haward’s Oysters is based on Mersea Island in Essex and is one of the oldest oyster farming families in the world. The eighth generation, brothers Tom and Bram, are directors of the business with their father, Richard, at the helm. These three are at the core of the business and keep the day to day operations running smoothly.
