Soups and salads, pastry and pasta, fritters and fish – what a wonderful array of dishes to start a meal to suit any time of year or occasion. We do not tend to eat three-course meals very often these days, but it would be a shame to omit all these lovely recipes that can be served before a main course. Many of them work brilliantly as a lunch dish as well. All you have to do is decide on whether to eat them for lunch or as a starter!
