  • About

Food would never have tasted so good were it not for my grandmother’s cooking. Food would not be so exciting to talk about were it not for Doreen Fernandez who gave Filipinos of my generation the intellectual foundation and the vocabulary to articulate our culture of food. And it was Stephen Jay Gould, along with his wife, Rhonda Roland Shearer, who first encouraged us to put all of these words and thoughts about our food into a cookbook.

We thank Marisa Bulzone and Stewart, Tabori & Chang for giving us the opportunity to collect, document and share stories and recipes of our generation. We thank Cristina Tabora who connected us to Marisa and whose steadfast confidence in us to do this book was our light at the end of the tunnel.
