Loreto Del Mundo-Relova is descended from the Del Mundos of Marinduque and the Rivera clan of Pila, onto whose land the present town was relocated after floods obliterated the old site. Though frail and in her eighties now, she is still beautiful and regal. Her cooking has sustained the family through the decades. What her children consider a family tradition comes from her hands, and what family warmth they look back on comes from her presence. She told a compelling story of how she learned to cook during World War II.
