Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is easily one of my favorite holidays of the year. The focus is always on food and on expressing gratefulness, which makes it the perfect kickoff to the hectic winter holiday season.

As they say, some like it hot, and in nuestra familia, we are definitely among those who do like spice for Thanksgiving. Of course, at the heart of the celebration is the traditional turkey day spread. We just like to spice it up with some fun Mexican twists! We usually host a late Thanksgiving lunch around two and then we graze all day and eat round two for dinner at six. Our family fiestas are usually casual and buffet style, but on Thanksgiving, the prettiest dishes are set out and we all squeeze around the dinner table—or tables, depending on the crowd size—and eat at the same time.
