A well-outfitted kitchen is the first step to overcome the perception that Nonya cooking is laborious. It is better to invest in high quality tools, pots and pans than to buy the cheap-sale toys that are bought on impulse. My mother was a culprit herself as she wandered into the kitchen department at Tangs frequently and bought many different gadgets. Fortunately, she acquired some heavy duty appliances that still last three decades later, such as her faithful Kenwood cake mixer.
