To write this book I have read and studied the texts listed below. Although they appear under different headings, many of these small or large volumes contained information on all four of the listed subjects. The names of the authors come first when the book was authored by one or two persons only; the names of the volumes, booklets, or pamphlets come first when they constitute a joint publication of several writers. All texts but a few have been published in French and to my knowledge have not yet been translated into any other language. I have indicated the original language of publication for the few volumes that were translations from either English or German. All titles and names of cities of publication are spelled in their French form.
