Herb liqueurs are as easy to prepare as the preceding cassis. Remove ½ cup of vodka from a full bottle and add enough of any herb to fill the bottle again. Add sugar to taste and steep until the herbs fall apart. Then strain through a coffee filter. The following herbs can be used: tarragon; a combination of dill and crushed caraway to obtain a homemade Kümmel; a combination of thyme and wild oregano, of which there is plenty in the Savoie; 1½ ounces of crushed juniper berries.
