  • About

My paternal grandmother, Thi Than Nguyen, with my father (age 2) and his Aunty, Saigon 1949. Left: Mark and I; photo taken by Leroy Nguyen, 2004.

To raise a red lantern outside your home is a symbol of honouring good company.
The art of hospitality has remained the livelihood of my family for generations. For us, the bringing of people together is the most important role that food plays. Food is the binding force that has saved my family time and time again. Never in my wildest dreams did I think Red Lantern would be the ultimate salvation of my first family, and the catalyst for the creation of my future family.
