If you have my other books you’ll know by now that I consider soup to be one of the greatest mainstays any cook can master. It’s heartwarming and wholesome and absolutely central to my philosophy that even the simplest food to prepare can also taste delicious! Soup can adapt itself to every occasion. Obviously it can be the first course of a dinner or a quick and nourishing lunchtime or after-school snack, but there’s no doubt about it that a good home-made soup served with crusty brown bread and a green salad is a meal fit for a king.
