As the years pass, the list of those to whom I owe much has grown beyond decent boundaries; but that, I feel, is the reward of a life, both personal and professional, well-lived. Sadly, I will not be able to mention all of these wonderful people.
I have had for some twenty years now a loving, supportive, and talented editor who makes beautiful books, Ann Bramson. Through her, I have come to have the marketing and communications support and friendship of Kimberly Yorio and the editing and copyediting of Deborah Weiss Geline and Judith Sutton. Ann’s assistant, Tricia Boczkowski, has been unfailingly helpful and cheerful. Ann introduced me to the Work-mans, both of whom are a pleasure. What cookery writer could not love a publisher who, when told there were to be three tripe soups in this book, said, “Wonderful”? I wonder what he will think of the eel soups.
