  • About
Concerns about our diet, especially the high intake of refined sugar, are leaving their marks. Unsurprisingly, sweet foods are high on the agenda of health-food advocates. Reacting to the growing demand for natural and wholesome food, manufacturers and vendors reformulate their products and change their menus. Sugar and the hotly contested high-fructose corn syrup might be reduced or replaced with alternative sweeteners. Industrial soft-serve ice cream, loaded with controversial additives, is gradually giving way to all-natural ice cream and ice pops. Even snow cones, infamous for their artificial syrups, can now be found using flavored honey, natural fruit syrups, or other natural sweeteners derived from agave, maple, or birch.
