Good health is important if you want to get the most out of life, and good health starts with a healthy diet. The media bombard us with confusing information about diet, but don’t panic — you don’t need a degree in nutrition to get it right, nor do you have to give up everything you like most and live on rabbit food.

The key to a healthy diet is variety and balance. Hamburgers, pizzas and chocolate alone will not supply your body with all the vitamins and minerals it needs to function at full tilt. The more different kinds of food you eat, the more essential nutrients your body gets. At the same time, reduce your intake of fats (particularly animal or ‘saturated’ fats such as in butter, cream and cheese, etc.) and sugar.
