  • About

By José Luis Alonso

My favorite memories of Cuban cuisine are from my childhood. Growing up in Cuba, there was a wonderful sense of sharing enjoyed while sipping cortados, small cups of Cuban coffee with milk. Family and friends would also spend time together enjoying the savory tastes of Cuban meals, a fusion of flavors from Taino, Spanish, French, and African cultures, as well as those of nearby Caribbean islands. We’d learn from each other’s personal stories and we’d gossip, always surrounded by laughter.
