Chives are small bulbous plants of the Onion tribe. The leaves are long and slender and impart a very pleasant flavor to soups, salads, etc. Chives are especially used in seasoning stews of rabbits and hare, hence the name, Civet, is applied to these stews in particular, on account of the high seasoning.
