I grew up eating mostly Indian food – with the occasional pizza with tomato ketchup, Asian soup, noodles, and egg rolls. After relocating to the US, my husband introduced me to many different cuisines, but I was a very picky eater and simply not interested in anything that smelled or tasted remotely “unfamiliar” to me. I even recall wanting only rice with chili sauce on many occasions in those early days: nothing else enticed me! To remedy this bizarre situation we found ourselves in, we chose to only visit restaurants when I was very hungry: this forced me to slowly start picking at food that was unfamiliar to my palate!
