Following a precise recipe for tuna salad may feel a little silly. After all, the mix is often a way to make a really awesome sandwich out of whatever’s in your refrigerator and pantry. Some of the best tuna sandwiches I’ve made were a result of a miscellany of pickled things and fresh herbs from my refrigerator. Onion and celery may be standard, but sometimes you’re in the mood for green onions and tarragon, or pepperoncini and shallots, or capers and dill.
