Doris Boyce used to joke that she drove an automatic car—the vehicle had been to the North Adelaide Football Club’s home ground so many times that it could find its own way.

Doris was only five when her mother, Constance, a one-eyed Roosters fan, took her to see her first Aussie rules football match in 1922. Over the next 60 years, Doris missed just ten North Adelaide games, and then it was only because she was too ill to attend. As much an icon in the club as her favourite player, Barrie Robran, the avid fan and honorary life member left an indelible mark on both the club and her local community before she passed away in 1999, at the age of 82.
