Noshie for Neddie Lovers, 1983.

The late Eleanor Russell is known around the world for her best-selling books on dressage. To compile them, the Australian equestrian drew on her own extensive knowledge and the inspirational teachings of Portuguese master, Nuno Oliveira, a revered figure in the horse world, and her mentor. But of all the publications with Eleanor’s name attached, it is a small spiral-bound book of recipes that best reflects her sense of fun and creativity.

Eleanor compiled Noshie for Neddie Lovers to help get the Australian dressage team to the world titles in Denmark in 1986. ‘Dressage was still in its infancy here really and we were struggling to get horses qualified to compete at an international level,’ explains her publishing partner, fellow horsewoman and friend, Joy Howley. ‘She was a great ideas lady and she just wanted to do something to help.’
