Kirstie Martin may only have been about seven at the time, but Newport School Cookbook compiler, Philippa Waugh, was so impressed with her effort to write a recipe without any obvious parental assistance, that she included it verbatim. Kirstie’s orange jelly dessert was one of 99 children’s favourit featured in the spiral-bound collection, published in 1987 as the Sydney school approached its centenary.
