A focus on fundraising

Since these books, many hundreds of community cookbooks have been produced across Australia. From the beginning of this project, I decided to focus on the first 100 years or so, up to the end of the 1980s. The books I wanted to write about also needed to be fundraisers, rather than mainly educational or promotional exercises. I found almost one thousand books matching those two criteria, tucked away in libraries and archives, op shops and private collections, and I’m fairly sure that I have barely scratched the surface.
