Food in the Wild

Clarissa Writes: I have a favourite cartoon which shows a picture of a mother battling against the storm, her hair streaming out behind her, clutching the hand of her small son who is clearly in danger of being blown away The caption below reads: ‘Despite every adversity the British shall barbecue’! As the shots of Jennifer and me cooking mussels on the beach show, we are no exception to this adage. Jennifer has a much more glamorous past in this area – picnics on the Yangtze River, diving for sea urchins in Taormina, al fresco picnics with footmen and gold plate in Portugal – but even so we both love it.
